Genuine question, why did they give him the strap? I'm not saying they shouldn't have just seems very un-Vince like to do. Bret they did it because of the steroid scandal. Eddie's segments were doing good ratings. But why Benoit?

Finlay wasn't even hired as a wrestler but they put him on tv because everyone liked him so much. They only hired Hornswoggle after Finlay had been on tv for months.

Well because winning the title from Triple H in the WM main event is a massive push and a lot of thought would have to be put into that, there were definitely other guys who could have had that spot. Again not saying it was bad just is less clear why than most guys who have gotten that kind of push

Its actually really simple bro. Benoit was over as fuck, he knew the business and he was respected. Benoit could move merch and there were always signs in the crowd for him after he had his singles push. Sometimes a wrestler is just over and Vince would actually let them be.
