I'm not sure about that "you'll always be an addict shit" because I haven't felt the compulsion to uproot my life and go back to seeking out drugs. I kind of feel like it just might be a cope used by people who still hang around the shit that used to get them in trouble.
You gotta separate completely, DENNIS style. I moved a thousand miles away to a place where I wouldn't know anybody who could get painkillers, cleaned up, got a decent job, and now nobody in my sphere does that shit or even knows anything about it and I'm good to go. After so many years, I have zero desire to do that shit again.
