I believed they were legit brothers. It gives them credibility as a team like E&C, Kane and Undertaker, even if it's obvious that they're not actually brothers later on.

The spots are actually built up to in the match and have a purpose. Unlike modern wrestling where guys do spots for seemingly no sensible reason, but trying to look cool. (For example jumping off a ladder to elbow drop onto a ladder that no other wrestler is near at all)
