>>7442113AEW is trying to be the new WCW, but they really arent. WCW went under for these reasons
1. It was basically owned by a tv network, and those people did not care about wrestling or WCW as a whole. Thus, as soon as they merged with Time Warner and money mark Ted Turner was no longer in charge, WCW was bound to get the ax.
2. The NWO angle drew a lot of dimes at first, but they ran a good thing into the ground until everyone was sick of it
3. Not giving enough spotlight to the cruiserweight division. They were the highlight of most WCW shows but most of them didnt get featured enough, even the best ones like Rey Mysterio.
4. I would say that Vince Russo's retarded booking/angles was also part of it. WCW was already hurting by that time, but he put the final nail in the coffin.
5. Too much bait and switch. There were too many times that a potentially huge match was ruined with a clusterfuck finish (Hogan vs Sting at Starrcade was a good example)
6. Copycat shit. WCW brought in Hogan in 1994 and a slew of ex-WWF guys followed. Most of their homegrown talent was sidelined for the older guys who were better known. In the long term that strategy backfired because most of the old guys eventually left and there werent enough good talents to replace them.
