Eh on the current scene you don’t get many people like that unless you’re going off of Allie Katch and Effy. Modern death matche wrestlers are generally guys who were inspired by hybrid workers from the mid two thousands like Drake, Danny Havoc, JC Bailey, and Thumbtack Jack who blended junior heavyweight stuff with ultra violence and crazy bumps. Ocassionally they’ll be guys like John Wayne Murdoch and Tremont who are inspired by old school southern wrassling who blend it with the deathmatch stuff and some hi flying.

it took a while for the American deathmatch scene to find itself. For a long time you couldnt even hardly see that style outside of Japan. Even ECW didnt do full-on deathmatches very much. Its starting to develop nicely though and i like it.

It’s kind of crazy how Japanese and American deathmatch has influenced eachother in a circular motion. Onita is inspired by southern brawling and Terry Funk so he brings that style to Japan and makes it go crazier with exploding barbed wire. No rope barbed wire comes back to ECW with guys like Terry Funk, Cactus Jack and Sabu who did deathmatches in Japan. Ian Rotten does deathmatches in America, Zandig starts CZW and starts blending workrate stuff with ultra violent wrestling. Zandig takes CzW to Japan which influences Jun Kasai to start doing more crazy shit in his matches. Jun Kasai and that new wave of BJW inspire mid two thousands deathmatch guys in IWA Mid South and Combat Zone.

Rob Black should have focused on those California shows. Him running Jersey, is most likely just be a giant waste of money for him. XPW is a very California product, that's where it's strongest market is. NHB isnt capable of being a threat to XPW, that wasnt the thing. The thing is that Danny decided to act like a prick on social media when Rob actually tried to smooth things over with him. Danny is so thin skinned that he got furious over one XPW fan posting some stuff about him on a fanpage forum and blamed rob black. Shlak is a big part of XPW yeah, but he's also got other big draws like Masada and Necro. Even the comedy acts like Santana Jackson and Dirty Ron are really entertaining and fun. The Derby Room in Pomona has been a great venue for XPW. There's kind of a weird otherworldly feeling about it, which has led to some great moments. Particularly every-time something crazy happens and Shlak just sort of stares in bewilderment, like he can't even believe what is happening
