Anyway, everything Meltzer says makes sense in terms of continuity if you look at it with the idea that he's an Elite fan, not an AEW fan, anything that is contrary to the Elite he will shit on to some extent, anything involving Elite he will try to put over. AEW has almost as many talents on the roster as the WWE and we only see 20 of them for months.
What's the point of rooting for a guy when he's benched straight away to make room for a guy we haven't seen in 8 months?
And when you can't root for a guy, you can't care about the title changes, and then there's no reason to even watch the TV shows or buy the PPVs, because nothing on AEW has any meaning, not even as entertainment.
On top of that the entertainment looks awfully unconvincing and often benches wrestlers through injuries.

If I had Tony's roster, I'd be having WrestleMania level dream matches every single week. Long term booking only works if you have over a million viewers. AEW doesn't. They're ice cold and need something better than interim title holders 24/7.

Yeah in hindsight Vince cutting a ton of WWE talent so they show up in TNA- I mean AEW was the right play, culled a lot of the AEW originals pushes over ex-WWE Superstar signings being highlighted instead of guys getting over. Not at all true. I watch both. My best friend only watches AEW, not because he is a tranny, but because he grew up in the South and preferred the territory wrestling there. The fact that Arn is signed with AEW makes him an AEW fan and he literally hates the WWE. Dude grew up watching Arn in Rome, GA (he's from Alabama). About half of AEW fans are the retard Meltzer smarks that watch NJPW and the CyberFight promos, the other half just like wrestling and hate the WWE. Then there are dudes like me that aren't really fans of either, they just like wrestling.

You are correct about a lot of the younger fans being disenfranchised WWE fans. But there are a lot of older fans that have been disenfranchised WCW fans for the last 20 years. These are the same guys that gave TNA it's bump (that it fucked up by bringing in Hogan and Bischoff) and also made ROH a thing before AEW killed it.
