Turner still had control of the cable networks in 1996 after the merger with Time Warner, but Levin/Parsons (the CEOs) were pushing him out slowly over the years. Turner succeed in pushing out Levin out in 2001, but the merger with AOL killed the stock prices and reduced the value in his stake in the company and Turner was eventually pushed to the side in 2009. How this fits in with Benoit, I think people were digging up dirt on Turner and there was some dirt related to Kevin Sullivan dating back to the mid-90's. How Kevin was cool with Benoit just up and taking his wife always felt weird. I know there was the shoot fight in WCW, but Sullivan was cool with the program. And Eddie was obviously not faithful to Vicki, because he had a kid with another woman in 2002. Me, this sounds like some wife-swapping sex stuff (I've done this in the past, over it now, but it really never works out well) and some of it probably involved Ted Turner. If Ted's in a war with his board and Nancy (and maybe even Benoit, Eddie, Vicki and Maggs) were fucking around at sex parties with Ted and God knows who, there's your motive.
