>>7507895>who would you have given the streak gimmick to?No one. Not some newcomer, that's for sure. WWE had done that a million times before to build up guys to face Hogan, and then they'd lose and be irrelevant. That worked because those streaks were built beating Iron Mike Sharpe, the Brooklyn Brawler, and the like. When you have a guy kicking out of a Diamond Cutter, A Razor's Edge, The perfectplex, being attacked by STOP signs from the entire flock, and making Sting look like a chump, it was hurting more than it helped. Do you really want everyone in the company to lose to someone who can't do a 20-30 main event match, and can't promote the PPV, because spitting out two words, is the best you can get? Nope, sorry. Not only did it make everyone look like a chump, they were all mad about it, and the whole grounded in reality aspect WCW had worked hard to build up, became cartoonish and it was all ruined. Watch any interview about the nWo and how they tried to make it work. It was about looking as real as possible. Once some insane monster comes along and breaks that illusion, it was a wrap. It was back to Dungeon of Doom style nonsense.
