He's one of those guy who by all means should have gotten a proper run with the strap but had his career ruined by the usual injuries, face of the company, and part-timers stealing the spotlight. It's sort of like how Ziggler still has people supporting him because they saw how much potential his career had when he cashed in and during that kino survivor series match.
And Wade isn't bad. He probably could've used some more moves, but he definitely had the look and the promo. For some reason, English-thugs are kino as fuck. Look at all the movies that get made about them. And don't underestimate the fact that he was able to get gimmicks like Nexus, Bad News Barret, and King Barret over. He doesn't look all that different from the interchangeable NXT types but he's been able to distinguish himself so well through his gimmicks and presentation that everyone recognizes him.
