>>7534024WrestleMania IX was better than most modern PPVs. At least it was memorable and it had actual stars on the card. The Steiner Brothers tag match with the Headshrinkers was really good. Shawn pulled a solid match out of Tatanka. Luger and Hennig had good chemistry and their match was decent. Money Inc. v Mega Maniacs is nowhere near as awful as advertised and, while not good for workrate, got the crowd into it and was worked more like a Memphis style story-driven match with lots of heat moments rather than an athletic contest, but it was fun for what it was. Bret had a good match with Yoko who was meant to look like a monster and he did, albeit the ending and Hogan fuckery killed it and left an awful taste in the mouths of all who watched it.
At today's PPVs, it's just the same spots and the same working style for every match on the card. And most of the wrestlers today are vanilla shitters and easily replaceable. It's just forgettable and leads nowhere. WrestleMania IX stood out as a poor Mania because it was surrounded by much better events, but I've still rewatched it multiple times. Starrcade that same year we it out of the water though.
