I think the regime just jumps on whatever cultural side of the aisle they will have the most success into psyoping the NPC public into supporting their agenda. America used to be very culturally conservative, so whenever something needed to be censored or a country invaded, it was argued to appeal to conservatives. But conservativism has fallen out of favor, and it's the left with all the cultural power to persuade the public. So neo-cons have switched sides, and get NPCs to support their causes by appealing to idpol neo-racists and trannys by slapping LGBT pride flags on their bombs. Same with the video games you mentioned. For years they tried to censor GTA with no success, but as soon as they come at if from a leftwing angle, Rockstar announces they're changing their ways.

Yeah it's funny how Rockstar got a restraining order on that Jack Thompson guy who was constantly defaming them in 2007, but then rolled over and removed confederate flags from GTA V when the usual suspects got upset.
