Capulo really liked drawing it so they went with it (also, the Court of Owls trade w/ the mask was a massive seller and is still in print a decade later and so is the Joker face Death of the family trade). post-Endgame Amnesiac Bruce was also editorial mandated. Snyder can be a hack, but it’s comics, being a hack is the way of things. He’s a pretty sharp fucking guy irl. Used to have the Joseph Campbell chair at Sarah Lawrence College. Basically wrote comics as a second job and has consistently been a draw his entire
career. Jeph Loeb is a guy you’d call a hack. Bendis is a hack.
