Everyone talks about bloated rosters and yummy debuts. But what is the correct amount of talent to have? For example, WWE has 236 wrestlers, managers, and other on camera talent for 7 hours of weekly programming. AEW has 180 on camera talents for 3 hours of programming plus 1 hour of YouTube time.

so this is your source right? it includes part timers and all of the announce team and managers lol
a lot of the dark jobbers are guys with backstage jobs there too, but tk just lets them do a few matches for fun during the yt show

WCW was notorious for having a bloated roster and I'm pretty sure even when they had 8 hours of TV a week(Nitro-3, Saturday Night -2, Thunder -2, Worldwide -1) they had less than 160 guys on the active roster.

There's really only so many people you can push at once. Shows and PPV's are only so long and eventually, you will run into repeat storylines or storylines that don't make sense if you do too many of them.

I don't think there's an exact number to it as it depends on how long your show is and how many matches you put on it, but like the 4th and 5th biggest matches on shows aren't going to get that much attention and time.

Roster bloat only becomes an issue when you have a ton of guys who should be main-eventers who can't all be in the world title scene routinely because there are too many of them, and when you've hot-shotted every interesting matchup so that every feud has already happened.

You can easily manage a large roster as long as you give people gimmicks and characters that define them, instead of everyone being a generic looking self-smark who just wants to be champion. But God forbid someone content themselves with being the Damien Sandow who comes out every week and has entertaining segments. Both smarks and the self-mark wrestling genuinely believe that everyone should be world champion-tier, and if they're not, it's because they're being mis-booked and mistreated.
