Because Nash was great on the mic and Warrior had excellent character work. Batista had neither. It really is a tough example to beat. A top guy usually has a great character like Taker, can go in the ring like HBK, or was great on the mic like the Rock. Sometimes you get people with only one of these attributes but it's rare that you get someone with none of them who was pushed as a top guy and potentially considered a legend like Batista.
I'm genuinely struggling to think of someone who went as high as him without any of those three skills.

I disagree. Batista was over because of the stories that he was in. If you remember back to the Evolution split, you could have out anybody in that spot and they would get the same reaction. Same can't be said of Warrior, Hellwig brought something unique.
In fact even now I'd struggle to come up with some words that would describe uniqueness to Batistas character. He was generic cool guy

Checked. This is something nerds don't get. There is a physical charisma some people have. Most people are used to thinking of charisma as a "stat" that gives you a good promo, but it's an intangible and doesn't translate to promos. Batista was a massive shitter but he had it in spades.
