This is not a console war thread (even though I know some people will shitpost) - I've watched AEW from the start and I was wanting to know one thing 3 years in to the promotion: What are you thoughts on Tony Khan running things at this point? Are you confident, do you feel angry, not as into AEW anymore.

He dropped the ball hard when punk came in. Everything felt like it was shifting to WWE lite at that point. 20 minute in ring promos, random rematches with no rhyme or reason, rankings stopped mattering. ROH just made things worse too because instead of building stars or promoting wresters people were into from AEW we got all these ROH jabronis, who were already just indie geeks that ROH hired out of desperation when Tony and WWE raided their good wrestlers.

I just wish when Punk came in it was AEW featuring CM Punk, instead of The CM Punk show featuring some aew guys.

In all honesty when Cody left Tony was left to own devices . I think mentally that took him out of the game. Vince left and his automatic get out of jail card when it comes to his booking was immediately lost. People say he needs to hire his Booker , why? The moment he does that he’s going to sell it. Why is he pushing Jade? What does he like about her? Why is he keeping her in the midcard then?
Why didn't he strip Thunder Rosa of the title? Why did he make Toni Storm the interim champion when he evidently likes Britt the most?
Why did he take so long to give Orange Cassidy a title?
Why did he never put Darby into a proper feud with whoever he actually likes and wants to elevate instead of jobbing him out randomly to various shitters he has no intention of backing long-term?
Why does he want to hold on to MJF so badly when he doesn't actually even want him to be the face of the company nor has any story plans for him besides the CM Punk thing?

There are many questions that arise still even when you realize AEW is just TEW for him. He doesn't just do everything he actually wants to do.

Danielson trains her, she has a good look that fans like. The BIG thing is the network execs like her and Swerve.

Rosa is apparently "injured" that's why he's not stripping her. When she returns she'll fight Rosa most likely.

TK will say long term storytelling since his first match ever in AEW was vs PAC however I think he fucked up by not giving him a TNT title run like he did with Miro, Darby, etc. So I have no idea why it took forever.

He actually did do that recently. Darby is best friends with Brody King so their bloodbath feud was probably their idea. Also, TK might view Darby as a liability out of hte ring with stunts.

Because if he loses MJF he loses the Cornette chunk of fans.

i think tnt was about to greenlight a saturday show for roh until the most recent quarter, so he's pushing the roh stuff to get a deal and get them off dynamite if the dave reports are legit.

i have no issue with roh existing but he seriously needs to let someone else book it and actually separate things. hell, turn elevation or something into the roh show.

He's in over his head. His booking experience is playing fucking EWR and TEW, and he thought opening up a promotion with money from Daddy and WB would be easy street into immediately restarting the Monday Night Wars and competing with WWE. In reality, he can't bring in the same size of audience as WWE, so he has to pretend getting higher ratings than the C Brand is a win. He literally pull Bryan Danielson away from WWE and STILL can rarely pull in more than a million viewers.

His whole deal is trying to cosplay as Eric Bischoff during that year or so that WCW was beating WWF, but in reality AEW is still FAR behind WWE. He's desperate to pretend signings like Stokely Hathaway or Renee Paquette are HUGE gets to avoid the fact he's still barely competing with NXT. Let alone how much money he tanked buying Ring of Honor, which he's done nothing with besides using the belts as props on AEW TV and putting on 2 whole live shows.

This, 100% this. The moment he came out and said that he is booking his show to try to win the WON Best Booker of the Year award, that was when I knew the product was never going to really increase beyond the current audience it has now.

He not working toward major market appeal, he’s not trying to make the best, most far reaching and engaging product to market to the audience more broadly.

He is working to make a product that appeals to very small niche corner of the internet that vote for an annual award poll that he gives way, way too much credibility to. But you know that because of this, the moment that creative control is taken away from him, his interest in it will die, because as he is said, he’s already richer than WWE, so he’s clearly not in to this for money, he is literally a child playing with his life sized wrestling action figures.

He's clearly got an idea for RoH and unless he's got a solid cue that WB are up for a RoH show he needs to leave it where it is. It's clear he wants "restoring the honor" to be the first tagline angle for the company. And it's not like it's terrible or anything, the problem is that it's diluting AEW. TK I beg you, you have the parts in place for that shit, just leave it alone for now.
