What are some strange wrestling returns? For me, it's Bob Backlund's return in the early 90s before the Mr Backlund character. In his match at Mania 9 none of the fans cared about him, this guy was world champion just a decade previously and they didn't know him. How is that possible, imagine if the Rock came back and the fans had forgotten about him. The fact that he managed to reinvigorate his career in 1994 is amazing, and he's more well known for that than his legendary world title reign.
