Man, Despy was on fire earlier this year, his defences against Hiromu, SHO and even Wato were kino, the latter feeling like the moment Wato proved he really can go, there was hype around a Despy vs Lindaman rivalry, and then they brought things to a grinding halt for a meaningless Ishimori run. I guess it was probably so that KUSHIDA could face a heel for his return, and I suppose him getting sick couldn't have been predicted, but fuck it hurts to think how kino a full year Despy run would have been. With how good his defences have been plus the Kasai match and postmatch segment he could have had an all time kino year.
The WK four way better be a fucking all timer for it to not feel like a disaster for me. With the amount of time they have to build it I suppose they have time to build Wato into a serious threat, and even if he doesn't win I think him growing into a top guy in the division has to be a story of the match if they're putting him in that spot in WK with the three top guys in the division.
