Of course not. Rocky was already getting booed more than Austin for the entirety of this feud.

The only way it maybe could've worked was with a face more over than Austin. Other than Hogan, who Vince was too cheap to pay to show up at X-7, I can't think of anyone else who would've stood a chance at making this work.

Hell, even with Hogan, he would've been subject to diminishing returns.

The HHH/Austin teamup would've worked better with Rock opposing them, because people fucking hated HHH, but in the long run, no one hated Austin so much that he'd be top heel.
