He typically trips them into the ropes. To set up the move. Also it does happen in some other matches and the move the other people do is like a running double knee to the back of the neck.

It is why I hate WWE style matches. A lot of the obnoxious ways you see a match flow in a WWE ring doesn't actually happen in other wrestling. Especially not wrestling outside the WWF/E from before the 2020's and 2010's years. Its done because WWE is obnoxious meme style wrestling. Watch Rey's ECW matches he had with Psicosis or Juvie. You will see a completely different style out of him there vs what you see from him every time in WWE.

There's a difference between deliberately placing your opponent on the middle rope, and them placing themselves there after selling a dropkick, hurricanrana, punch to the face, or literally any offensive maneuver that they would sell normally against any other opponent that isn't Rey Mysterio.
