I think it deserves its spot. It's one of my all-time favorite matches, mainly for the Savage redemption storyline and for his reuniting with Miss Elizabeth. The crowd was MASSIVELY into it as well. Modern promotions, including WWE and AEW, would kill for that level of crowd investment in a match. Go back and watch if you don't believe me

That said, I'm much more into storylines and working the crowd that I am into work rate. So this match really appeals to me.

Decent list, if a little too skewed towards WWE but I understand why. I strongly disagree with #1. I find that match to be overrated. Bret v Owen at SummerSlam should be on the list. I would replace the Iron Man match since I found that one to be dull in large chunks except for near the end. Also cut Punk/Cena and replace with the Benoit/HHH/HBK triple threat. Of course I know why WWE didn't include it.

One of the most overrated matches in wwe history. It was ***1/2 at best. The camera shot of Austin bleeding and refusing to tap out was kino, as was the post match angle of Bret getting booed and the crowd chanting for Austin. But the actual in ring work itself was just meh.

It's never been the go-to answer though. The go-to answer is typically Flair-Steamboat. For WWE, it's Bret-Austin. HBK-Taker is modern revisionism.

Might be a bit of a cheat, but Royal Rumble '92 (the best Rumble) deserves a spot in the top 10. Hogan played a big role in that. I think if you expand the list to top 20, Hogan would appear multiple times, such as for his match with Savage at WrestleMania V, his match with Flair at Halloween Havoc 94, and his match with Big Boss Man in the steel cage.

Just cements my view that WWE overrates Shawn massively. Best ladder match wasn't even Shawn/Razor, it was Shawn/Bret. Cena is shoehorned in with two spots just on name value alone. And of course, they ignore Benoit. Tag Team matches are ignored except for the TLC spot fest, which is a shame. And where the fuck is WarGames 91?

No such thing as an "anti-smark." I like good wrestling, but I recognize that wrestling is about working the crowd, drawing heat, and believability. I don't like it when finishers are treated like video game finishers, or when there is obvious cooperation, or when there is a long pause to setup a spot, or when wrestlers forget to sell because they just have to get all their shit in. I know what I like, which just so happens to also be what used to draw a mainstream audience, rather than the niche audience wrestling is mostly contained to today.

These are just facts. You can disagree, but you're wrong.

Reminder that WM26 that these two queers headlined pulled a disastrous buyrate and WM25 which was built heavily around them did poorly, too.
Fuck these dweebs and their fake ""legendary"" match. Austin/Rock at 17 is the GOAT main event because they were big enough stars to actually spam finishers and have it be cool.
