I watched it live. I was like 8.

It was weird. I didn’t understand the gravity of the situation but my dad did (he was watching it with me) and he kept telling me how bad this was and kept telling me WWF was gonna get sued.

It dawned on kid me how bad the situation was when Debra / Jarrett cut the promo backstage crying. You never see wrestlers crying. It was fucked.

Watching it on PPV was just weird. They were showing a pretaped segment when Owen fell. So there's a sudden cut back to the ring, and JR and Lawler were all grim faced, and talking about a horrible accident that just happened. I really thought it was just some work, or storyline. Even when they later confirmed that Owen was dead, I was like "weird direction for the story to go", but I was only 12 at the time.

yeah, I was watching it with a friend and owen was one of our favorites and we couldn't really figure what they meant by malfunction, I was thinking he might've fallen 10-15 feet down on to some fans/tarps, then they announced that he'd died, me and my friend shocked and said "He fucking DIED!? He's fucking DEAD!?", it's like imagine Finn Balor died off camera doing his demon entrance or Rey Mysterio getting jammed in the hydraulic entrance launcher like one of those chinese videos, it was half unbelievable and half gutting, we didn't really care about the rest of the ppv but we watched it regardless

I watched the PPV live. There wasn’t anything you haven’t already seen, or can go watch on YouTube. A pre-taped segment was running when Owen jumped, and when it came back JR gave his promo about what had happened. During which the King came back to the desk and really sold it with his facials.
