This is the danger of forming a narrative based on a clip. They're working snug and at no point are they not cooperating with each other. Athena does a sick shotgun dropkick on the outside that sends Jody flying into the guardrail but you can see Athena ask her if she's okay and Jody smiles and nods and the match continues. Just watched, yeah, Athena is just hitting her hard for no reason and does unsafe shit like the blows to the head when she's on the ground, throwing her out of the ring like that, and the dropkick full blast where her head hit the bottom of the rail and almost cranked her neck. The jobber didn't lay anything in besides one check in the corner at the beginning, the strikes near the end to Athena are super slow and come nowhere near her. It's not a snug match, and Athena didn't give shine to the jobber by beating the shit out of her. It's just bad work because either Athena is clueless or she was abusing a jobber who couldn't do anything. Was a fan of Athena in NXT but she has been underwhelming since AEW.
Also, on a side note, Paul Wight is seriously underrated as a commentator

I think the suplex to the outside spot was a mistake. Jody was probably supposed to go out to the floor but should've landed closer to the ring so she could soften the fall by pretending to go face-first into the apron on the way down. When they did looked bad but it was perfectly safe and Athena clearly checks on her to make sure she's alright.

I didn't say she sustained injuries, I implied Athena worked in a way that is highly probable to cause injuries and will if she keeps doing it, just like the numerous other injuries in AEW and other companies. If she 'worked stiff to get heat' then it's stupid and there are a million other ways to get heat, which would work better because her opponent didn't look good and even the pin was botched.
