He doesn’t take an enough funny roles. His whole appeal was that he was funny and crass and now he plays generic tough guys or tough guys with a heart of gold.

And most modern movie humor is just people aping the banter style of Clerks or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Thinking funny is a rhythm and not set up and punchline.

It's less about being "unscripted" and more about being unshackled. He looks charismatic when he is in the fucked up speed-snorting mode you see in promos. in movies he has to play different/sensible roles and the Rock isn't actually a good actor so his blandness becomes apparent in (most) of his movies.

Some actors have so much pull that they can influence some aspects of the production. Also some actors are such draws that they can demand a share of the movie's profits because they are a guaranteed draw. This can lead them being credited as producers. In tv shows, an actor who plays lead for very long can also be credited as producer (eg. Sheldon from BBT)
I'm sure there are many more scenarios, but these are off the top of my head

This is a work. They say they'll pay you a portion of the profits but after the accounting is done they say they have a loss. IIRC even Star Wars did this to its actors. Don't take a mark contract. A portion of revenue, though, that's grabbing the brass ring.

He should have taken the Schwarzenegger route and stuck to awesome guy movies like Predator, Commando, Terminator, Total recall type movies.
Instead hes doing the 80th Fast and Furious Movie a franchise that should have died after one movie, shitty comedies with Kevin Hart, and Lame fuckin disaster movies like rampage and Skyscraper

Fighting with my family has a good scene where Dwayne does his bland Hollywood acting then he cuts a wrestling promo halfway during the scene. Shit is like night and day in terms of entertainment and acting ability.
