Proving that AEW can do debuts really well and nothing else. Buried everyone he was in a feud with, got worked by a shoot form someone he was slated the bury anyway and his ego cost him everything. Although I don't think it was Punk's fault, I think that AEW management (probably just Tony) made a tone-deaf move to preemptively separate Punk and Colt Cabana to avoid any future issues, not realizing that the move itself cause issues to erupt.

This. Punk wanted to build up AEW to compete with WWE. The Bucks wanted to put on their lame ass gymnastics matches and dress up like Space Jam. Over time, Tony was taking more input from Punk and less from The Elite, and taking creative input away from the EVPs. The Elite panicked and that was when the backstage politicking and feeding bullshit to Meltzer started.
