I'm pretty sure Kenny being so big on Takeshita is why he started working with AEW in the first place. It's not like Tony was immediately sold on him -- he didn't go right to Dynamite, he wrestled that Danny whateverthefuck nigga on Elevation or something, had a few more dark matches, and once Tony bought in and saw how warmly the crowd reacted to him, he was sold. But with the DDT connection and Kenny being back (before the Punk scuffle), the plan was very clearly for Takeshita to do an angle with Omega/The Elite.
