On a side note, why didn't Vince or Hunter repackage Dexter Lumis as a Rick Rude spiritual successor type? He's pretty much Rude but with more tattoos on his harms and from what I've heard from his various interviews, he got his start in wrestling basically doing a Rick Rude homage gimmick called "Slick Sleazy".

Would be way more interesting than mute vigilante serial killer who has to be booked as a good guy because Hunter won't fucking admit he fucked up signing Killer Kross.

Because the last time they tried a Rick Rude homage, it was with Bobby Rhode and it flopped so badly that they took Bobby (who shaved so that he had just a mustache) off TV until he regrew his beard.

Also, IIRC Hunter and Shawn never liked Rude to begin with since he was firmly in Brett Hart's camp and the rumor that Vince made Hunter/Shawn take Rude on as a member of DX purely so that he could narc on them for Brett to keep Brett happy. And bailed on them and humiliated Vince/WWE on his way out the door by showing up live on Nitro while Raw was running a pre-taped episode with him on it.
