Maybe a lot of the egos in wrestling come from insecurities, ranging from looks, size, strength, wow factor etc. Big men like Show, Kane etc. are spectacles and immediately get attention. They likely also know they are limited in the ring so don't care too much about work rate. Plus in WWE big men are set for cushy positions so have no reason to rock the boat.
