Is he talking to Punk's lawyers or some mark like Danhausen who is friends with Punk backstage?
There's no transparency here. There's no way Punk is reaching out to the guy he was shooting on at the event in question for reporting lies about him. If anything, he would be leaking fake rumours to Dave as a receipt.

It was very clearly Punk's side (Ace) talking to him when the Ace Steel stuff came out, as Dave was pretty defensive of him 'protecting his wife' and all that. Guessing he means the only people with direct experience in the scuffle were Punk-siders and the rest (i.e. Bucks, Kenny) passed through someone else first due to legal shit.

Tony allowed and even encouraged backstage drama as it would make a better product. Punk could sue and have somewhat of a decent case against the company, especially with how wrestling skirts around a lot of these employer/employee issues and judges aren't in the know.

Most of the parties involved are employees, not contractors. Tony sitting next to Punk and doing almost nothing to deescalate the situation at the same time he gave statements about how backstage drama can be good puts him in a difficult spot PR-wise and possibly legally - he cannot fire Punk right now because Punk got hurt 'on the job' during his match.
