>>7757826>Wrestling will never be as white hot or part of the public conscience in the way it was back in the 80s and late 90s>wrestling is niche and will never again be mainstreamThat's what everyone thought after the 80s boom died down. The pro wrestling business has always been cyclical. The problem now is that there is only one big promotion left standing, and they've been stagnant for many years. Bob Backlund was WWF champion for almost six years. He lost the belt in December 1983 and left wrestling less than a year later. When Backlund returned in 1992, he was like a man out of time, a relic from some bygone era, so different was he from the WWF at that time. And yet it had only been an 8 year absence.
My point is that WWE needs to change if it wants to get back into the public consciousness again. That doesn't have to mean taking a controversial approach, which is what worked for the Attitude Era, but that is one way to do it. Rock 'n' Wrestling era was all about the union between the burgeoning MTV and popular music at the time with pro wrestling. Or one of its competitors, namely AEW since they are the biggest competitor and have by far the most funding, can try to be something different, rather than producing their wrestling program similar to what we've seen from Vince's WWE for arguably the past 20 years, since the death of WCW. I don't think AEW fans want to admit just how closely Dynamite resembles a WWE product.
