I love Jim Cornette. Can't say nothing bad about The Louisville Lip. When you get him talking wrestling ANYTHING, you agree with him. Simple as that. There is a process and an art form to telling a story in a ring between men in between two bell rings and Jim has seen it since childhood and learned its craft through and through enough to be able to tell stories and anecdotes about obscure events and goings on when the methods of his livelihood were implemented. And he is intelligent and verbal and articulate enough to put it to you in a way that is both agreeable, concise, reality based and logical. Like boxing, there is a science to it for those eager and wanting to learn. You learn about people he knew, things he saw, and fine details about a time in the world that is no longer with us or possible. And he can tear into you at a million words a minute insulting your ass up and down with that damn Kentucky twang with every Southern euphemism in existence.
Any other topic, he can just lose you unless you already agree with what he's saying. You get on his bad side, you will never hear the end of it because he won't shut up about it. Ever. He gets in these foul mental states from time to time and it just sounds like his brain is pickled as he brings up the people who gave him difficulties, with both humour and acidic vitriol. He is somewhat contradictory in that he has conservative values but is a staunch Democrat. His habits and mannerisms are curious with the throat clearing ticks and such. His sexuality has been...thouroughly discussed on this board.
This is a guy who used to jerry-rig his tv attenae to pick up wrestling on other stations out of his area, he was just that in love with it and committed. I'd be hard pressed to say very few of us who consider ourselves just as big of wrestling as Jim is to do something such as that.
