I dunno, I could see them wanting to test the waters first, and a match against a safe pair of hands that won't be seen by a huge chunk of your main audience feels like a good way to do that, and still get to do "SHIBATA'S RETURN MATCH" at a show.

Either way OC delivers so I'm sure he'll be fun to watch Shibata kick the fuck out of him.

Yeah but that wasn't really billed as a return, it was a special thing. Like the Zack match. But even if they did "go off script" it was still not a return, if they want to test for a full return getting him in a couple matches in the states and seeing if he's fine while he's doing LA Dojo things seems to my mind to be a good way to do it. Either way, copium or not, should be fun.
