I think they’re going with a Moxley and Regal being true villains angle while MJF gets a face turn. Roddy Piper is MJF’s hero and Regal on his podcast said he wouldn’t have introduced MJF to Piper since MJF didn’t grow up working class and have what it takes to be a true villain, whereas Regal personally introduced Moxley to Piper and told Piper that Moxley was like them. Dude they should have been the transitional heel tag champs instead of the Bucks. Everyone wanted it, they were so fucking over. Instead they job out and then break up for no reason and no follow up. Neither of them are ever on TV anymore. But it's ok, we have heatless triple threats for orange Cassidy, ROH shit nonone wants to see, Wheeler Yuta 20 minute matches, Britt Baker segments constantly and WWE Paige all over the show every week doing nothing, Moxley having pointless title matches that are all the same and no one cares. No time to use the actually popular talent who could be established top guys by now.

I think the idea is that to understand a NEED to be villainous you have to have needed to claw your way from the bottom by any means necessary. But he has been contrary on that point, explaining that he is a villain for fun and because he wants to in the same promos. So it's dumb.
