Those are pretty much the only two important joshi promotions, theres tons of indy promotions with good wrestling, but they are small promotions and maybe youre not into that

Start with the fed generals and not a specific joshi thread.
Find out about events with lots of good matches and go from there.
I personally started with Stardom because it's the most accessible and then got into the other feds and before long the next thing I knew was I was a full-on concession-area fanboy.

I also like how its all Factions and everyone is in one and if you are new you will eventually join one.

Stardom is bigger and more high paced quality hard hitting matches with more money behind them, TJPW is all about idols, character work, visual cute princess wrestling and comedy, but can also do good big matches when needed

As someone who always watched but got full joshipilled at the start of the pandemic, pick someone that stands out to you and watch a lot of them. Eventually you'll be interested in one of their opponents and start branching to them, and then to another, etc.

Stardom is unarguably the largest promotion and has big scale events with pyro and shit. The style is very fast with lots of bumps and exchanges and somewhat overly choreographed spots.

Sendai Girls is small and made up of 6 or so people with the rest of shows being filled out with freelancers. Their style is hard hitting and more traditional.

WAVE is a small promotion that has been around for decades, it's produced people like Asuka in WWE. Their focus is largely on comedy than srs bsns wrestling.

Marvelous is a small company founded by one of the biggest names in the industry, Chigusa Nagayo. They're fairly traditional like Sendai Girls with not a whole lot to say about it other than it's The Takumi Iroha show as she's Chigusa's ace student.

SEAdLINNNG is a small promotion fronted by Arisa Nakajima and usually aims for a 'work rate' style while also relying heavily on freelancers. They usually incorporate a wacky stip match each show called High Speed where the ref counts incredibly fast.

Oz Academy is a small promotion that has an overarching story (both work and shoot) that the owner is also the head of the heel group that can change rules on the fly to favor themselves. The babyfaces fight just to survive while sometimes faced with ridiculous odds.

Ice Ribbon, Ice is gonna die so don't bother.

Tokyo Joshi Pro is the second biggest company in Japan and is more character based than about putting on Meltzer 5 star matches. You'll see cute girls doing cute shit and the shows usually last no more than 2 hours so it's easy to get through.

All these companies have youtube presence, even Sendai uploads all their house shows for free. See what presentation and style you like and go from there.

Finished the Stardom show. Enjoyed it a lot, as I mentioned Giulia and Mina were the two standouts for me, so I'll be looking up their matches to follow-up.

They've toned down things like having a paid off heel ref, blatant interference, weapon use, etc over the last year or two. But even when they were going hard with their heel group fucking over the babyfaces there was still some moments of good conquering evil. But the thing about Oz, evil is good. It's the villain training school, your main characters are the antagonists and traditional storytelling doesn't apply here
