>>7862005The Democratic party in the US is desperately trying to push the idea that the Republican party is going to pass "voter suppression laws" that supposedly disenfranchise minority voters, which historically tend to vote Democrat, thus swinging future elections in favor of the Republicans.
These "voter suppression laws" are things like requiring ID to vote, making ballot harvesting and electioneering illegal, etc. in order to prevent invalid votes from going through (multiple votes from same person, votes from non-citizens, votes from dead people, votes fraudulently filled out by someone other than the person whose name is on the ballot, and the like) In other words, basic election security measures that every other developed nation in the world has. They actually claim straight-up that requiring ID is "suppression" against minorities because they're less likely to have ID. Apart from the fact that there are MANY alternatives available to anyone who doesn't have an ID card or driver license, this to them is apparently a problem with the security measure, and not a problem with the people who don't have ID.
It's extreme hyperbole and often pure bullshit (mostly when Biden tries to make claims about what the proposed laws actually say) but left coast celebrities are signal boosting it anyway because they're partisan hacks who don't think critically about the things they hear from their political leaders, in spite of the fact that it is a universally agreed-upon truth in America that politicians are always talking out of both sides of their mouth.
tl;dr - he's a sheep who fell for what the wolves told him.
