In between that, you had the "new generation " era, which was mostly trash. They had no strong competition during that era. Every WWE "era" since the attitude era has failed to create a new boom. Again, no real competition during these eras. Now, they're starting to gain popularity again, and what a coincidence! There is at least some competition in the form of AEW. AEW sucks, but the mere existence of a strong competitor always pushes them to be better. This pattern has repeated itself too many times to be a coincidence.
