"This is awesome" is worse than the "What" chant. It's the worst thing to happen to wrestling. I hate these neckbeards who drove their indie shitter shows into the ground only to hijack major promotions to do it all over again.

Unironically, the closest thing to old AJPW crowds right now are the crowds at Idol concerts in Japan. They regularly drown out the music/idols. If the wrestling audience cared even half as much, it wouldn't be a dying art.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the chants on its own. The issue is that now you need that chant every match or else it won't be considered good. So now you have matches built specifically around getting that chant which makes them overly formulaic and turns the crowd into clapping seals.
