There's no proof that Phil had anything to do with it beyond autistic screeching here, and I say that as somebody that doesn't even like Phil. The only reason I even know who Colt Cabana is, is because Phil mentioned him on a promo once, and the only reason I know he was still working for AEW is because of this drama. He's a Brooklyn Brawler level of shitter but without the soul, I couldn't care less about Colt Cabana living or dying, let alone where he wrestles. There might be some credence to the idea that Tony just assumed there would be an issue and preemptively moved him, but that's not on Phil, and even that's just an assumption. It isn't like Cabana was being prepped for the main event and then disappeared, he was a gaywad faggot they signed for no reason like half the shit house roster they've got over there.

Punk was on commentary for a Dark Order tag team match involving Colt Cabana and calmly avoided him backstage on camera once, and you guys are still acting like Punk tried to get rid of him.
The reality is Colt didn't have much use past the launch of the company much like the other Dark Order guys that got the boot. I'd argue the potential of people blaming Punk for Colt being released actually kept Cabana around.
The Elite are drama queens and spread false rumors, and Hangman went off script on national television and added fuel to that fire. Punk may not have handled it professionally from there himself, but can you blame him?

The headcanon is frustrating, they clearly are pushing for other teams, but they aren't getting credit for it, it sucks. The Bucks tried to make the Hardyz look the best they could, they push for an FTR push when TK wants to push another team in AEW's tag division (rightly so imo, no dig at FTR just the division needs more depth) and they get slated as selfish, I've been a carny myself and you can see when a carny is more interested in their overall business than themselves and the bucks are definitely the former.
