It's not that NWA owns the Nick Aldis name but there are some merchandise and royalty issues that haven't been figured out so he's temporarily using a different name.

Nick Aldis is his actual, legal name. NWA can't claim ownership to that.

I honestly think he'd be better off in Impact. AEW's roster is so bloated, he'll get lost int he shuffle. Aldis in AEW is going to go the same way as so many other guys. He'll have his great big debut segment, get his ALL ELITE post on Twitter, job to Jericho or MJF or one of Tony's pet projects on Dynamite, then gradually get less and less TV time until he's working matches on Dark. Or he'll get the Miro treatment and be paid to sit at home and do nothing.
