If I had to come up with a reason, Regal was waiting for the MJF to pull the villain move and use the referee as a shield.

What I don't get is bring another ref at all..

Amyway, ref goes down, Regal comes down the ramp.

I noticed that while MJF was pulling out the ring, Mox was conscious and looking at MJF from behind.

That could be the reason why he told MJF to drop it, because mox was expecting it/going to thwart it.

But the ref is still down, 2nd ref comes out, I forget who elbows him (don't really think all that was necessary), submission not seen, first ref still recovering, Regal tells Mox to lool awayband get the ref, and THEN Regal saw the opportunity and passed MJF his weapon.

I see what you mean. I might be remembering wrong but I think MJF was flipping the finger to Regal when Mox hit him and went for the tap.

It wasn't some master plan on Regal's part but he saw it was the best moment of them all to come out (when MJF used the ref to block the attack). Mox hitting MJF from behind simply was ALMOST the setback to what he wanted.

When he got the ring MJF had the advantage. The hijinx with Regal caused Mox to recover and come up behind him. So the ring shit lost MJF the advantage, then Mox tapped him but went to get the ref and MJF used the knuckles with a shot from behind. Unless I'm remembering something wrong. If MJF just hit him when he went to get the ring, it would be putting away an opponent he had down, but still giving the face an out. Instead Mox tapped MJF then MJF cheated which goes against what Regal said in his promo and makes no sense plus made your champ tap, even if it was a feint, which not all fans will take it as, considering MJF didn't even look to see if the ref was up or not.

In story writing there is a trope/rule called "Chekov's Gun", meaning that if an weapon or element is introduced at some point it must be used because otherwise it is pointless to introduce it.

Add the "Greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince people he doesn't exist" lines and it could be interprited to MJF or Regal as one claimed to be a babyface for the match and Regal pulled a long con by siding with Mox.
My predicition is that Regal will either do a promo about how he had a change of heart during the match or was in all along, and something about Mox being mean enough etc etc.
Either way the whole point was to pass on the brass knuckle gimmick to MJF and have Regal work with him - which is a good change since his role in BCC has been pretty useless lately.

Another thing that no one has mentioned yet is that by assisting mjf with the brass nucks, mjf is now indebted to Regal. At some point Regal can do the old "If it weren't for me you wouldn't be champion" bit. This would be a useful way to turn mjf face fr down the road since fan reaction is organically trying to steer him in that direction.

regal was hedging his bets. he saw mjf trying to cheat on his own accord but that didn't serve regal one bit. when mox didn't get the win, an opportunity arose where he could help & create an alliance with the villain he sees in himself. so he cashed out on mjf by helping him.

Perhaps the story will be that Regal will be using MJF because he was able to manipulate him before and during the match. He was able to stop him from using the ring, MJF shouted but ultimately did it because of him. Then MJF got the knucks, he used them as a blessing. Again, Regal is manipulating the situation.

Regal used or is using MJF's ambitions to be the champ to control him. MJF won't be fighting for the top spot for himself but in a daddy issues sort of way, he's being mentally warped, manipulated by Regal.

MJF isn't just a heel, over time we see that he is vulnerable and brought up his childhood trauma. Could he have been faking that? Sure, but it could have come from some sort of truth.

MJF needed a push to bring out the pure fighting spirit and perhaps he, and all of us, saw that when Regal stopped him from suing the ring. But Regal was being the false mentor, using MJF's ambitions, vulnerability and trauma to bring out a false heroic image of himself.

Or could it be that I'm overanalyzing the situation? Of course! I'm just some guy on the internet.
