There's a huge problem with modern day wrestling audiences where anytime a heel is really good at being a heel they start cheering them because of it. Not because they are 'cool' or a 'tweener' but because of some weird meta bullshit that usually consists of "He's really good at being a heel! I should cheer!". Even in ECW, with their smark audience, when Bubba Ray would go out, give a great promo and roast individual members of the crowd, he'd get the audience laughing but they'd immediately revert back to wanting to see him get his fat ass kicked as soon as the match started. I guarantee that if you replaced the smackdown crowd from when Vince gave that "life sucks" promo with an AEW crowd they'd be cheering him by the end of it and you'd probably even hear some "this is awesome" chants.
