>>8035256I mean, looking at this sort of makes you question Punk's long term drawing power though. He had his debut match against Darby at All Out 2021 and it's the highest buy rate AEW's ever done. Then the following year it was Punk and Moxley headlining in the main event for the world title and according to this graph it only got 140,000 buys. That's with Punk placed firmly front and centre at AEW's biggest event of the year. And now Full Gear, a lesser PPV without CM Punk on the card at all, got the same number of buys.
Punk was a draw at first but eventually the novelty wore off. Everyone realised (even if they wouldn't admit it) that all of his matches were fucking ass, then he went and got himself injured immediately after taking the belt from Hangman and the fans lost all faith in him. Now they're doing just as well without him as they were before he got injured AGAIN like the fragile bitch he is. Punk's initial drawing power was based on the good faith of the fans. He used all that up by having bad matches, being injury prone and acting like a cunt. When the good faith dried up, so did the dimes. I hope Tony got his money's worth.
