(Tsukasa Fujimoto won the Tokyo Sports award, but is still not known by many people; Arisa Nakajima, Hiroyo Matsumoto and Makoto are still nobodies.)

But their origins are as relevant as the first film Tom Cruise was cast in.

Not many people know or care about the promotions they came from, because those promotions are completely unknown to most wrestling fans, never mind the general public.

Before joining Stardom, Syuri was an ordinary wrestler, but after joining Stardom, her abilities became widely recognized and she became a popular wrestler. She wrestled on the indies for almost 10 years and nobody cared.

The opening was probably the highlight of a match that clearly left the crowd flummoxed. Erica was obviously as green as a kappa and it quickly became obvious that like many strongmen wresters have shown - being able to lift heavy shit in a controlled environment doesn't always translate to being able to do it in a wrestling match. Between this and Leilani Kai winning the All Pacific from Chigusa with a botched northern lights in a previous episode, it goes to show that whatever era of joshi you are watching you will never be too far from a gaijin shitter shitting up a match

They charge you a "service fee" just for walking in the door and usually a 1-drink minimum.

I am not one of the people weirdly obsessed with joshipod but
1) his view on the Nigerians is 100% accurate, they are trained to be aggressively pushy towards tourists and are entirely involved in seedy criminal shit and will make sure you either get robbed or a spiked drink. They're "legal" in the sense they got an arranged deal for citizenship but are not proper citizens and never will be. You can avoid them quite easily by just not going to those areas, how long that lasts depends on if society gets sick of them and fights back.
2) He's got his mind in the right place but doesn't know a lot and then does a show where he pretends that he does. His knowledge of wrestlers is confusingly shallow at some points and could easily be solved with 30+ minutes of reading about them and confirming how to say their names, what company they're in, etc. before getting his friend to deliver an ESL-tier translation to a wrestler that then gets further garbled into double ESL reply with a ton of lost details. This was always the case and he has apologized for it in the past saying his friend literally does it for free.

Also one neat thing I can respect is that he was careful to not upset companies. He was afraid of being looked at as an exposé-type podcast full of shoot interview bullshit, and tried to ask things either just on the line of kayfabe or focused on things like travel, practice routines, and inspiration rather than if they believe in random stories of hazing or who politicked for a push. This directly led to a level of trust where more and more wrestlers were given permission to appear and talk.

I only listened to them for 2020 and lost interest after that, so maybe it got better or worse, I don't know and I especially don't care what he looks like.
