This should have happened in week 4 or something. It kind of makes sense in the context of MJF holding a grudge against Regal, I suppose, but I feel like that should have happened after some interactions between them post heel turn.

I only assume that Regal wants to contune working with Bryan, who I assume is the "ace" Regal gets to take down MJF at the next PPV. But knowing Tony's booking, Regal will turn heel on Bryan at Revolution.

A few weeks ago, during his promo battle with MJF, Regal turned his back on MJF and invited him to attack him from behind. When MJF did nothing, he laughed and said that MJF didn't have it in him.

Enter last night. I think it was fairly straight forward. Though, yes, I agree it went way too long and the crowd wasn't as responsive as needed.

That's basically my theory, too. Tony writes a storyline, aborts entire segments of it due to circumstances, and then haphazardly salvages what he can without any attempt to tweak it.
I'm sure MJF will be fine so long as he doesn't job within the next few months, just because he's so good in his own presentation.

Everything Meltzer says about AEW makes sense when you look at it from the perspective that Jericho and The Elite are his closest sources, and he favors them. He will give a little favor to people who did interviews with him or are friends with his friends, like Moxley who spoke to Meltzer before, but everything mostly revolves around putting shine on his biggest sources / 'friends'.

Kek I'm happy I caught on and realized last year how shitty AEW was. Reading what's going on it just seem to get worse and worse.
In a way, I miss that all you could complain about back in early AEW was Marko Stunt, Nyla Rose and some Cody shenanigans. The stories, while not mindblowing, were at least less volatile and had solid build ups up to the PPVs. Brodie, Moxley, Cody etc had several weeks of build up before the pay off on PPV.
Nowadays it seems to be fast paced superficial WWE style stories
