Well the trouble with using Moxley and Danielson as the Jumbo Tsuruta and Tenryu of this situation is that both of those guys were protected as FUCK whereas Mox and Bryan have lost, and lost, and lost -- Bryan especially.
Bryan, by being so generous with his wins and losses, has diminished what it means to get a win over him. This is what a lot of these dudes don't understand, putting people over only means something if beating you means something. If you're a guy that puts everyone over, like Matt Hardy in recent years or like Danielson has been doing, it just does nothing for the young guy he's trying to give the rub.
Jumbo and Tenryu pretty much only lost to each other. Hell, Tenryu is the only dude with singles pinfalls over both Baba and Inoki I think. Hard to get more protected than that. So yeah, of course it means something when he puts over Kawada as his protoge. And when Jumbo lost to Misawa, it meant something.
It's on Tony to make these wins count. And also on guys like Moxley and Danielson to be more sparing with putting guys over and protecting themselves and their power levels -- so they can actually be in a position to help people get over.
