These days, wrestlers seem to deer-in-headlights when someething goes off script. They are so reliant and so dependent on scripted matches that when a spot botches they don't know what to do.
Contrast with experienced wrestlers who can call something in the ring and bridge a gap between where they are in a match and the script.

Wrestling 1 or 2 matches a week, maybe 5 or 10 minutes total of in-ring work doesn't hold a candle to working 5 or 6 matched 10 or 12 minutes each.
