>>8178210That thing started when AEW was on a hotstreak. Said streak's been over for several months now.
I won't go as far as to say they're in serious danger. After all, NWA, GCW, TNA, MLW, and CMLL are still around and they've been though much worse over longer periods of time. But the problems can't be dismissed as isolated, and they're only getting worse.
Meanwhile, WWE's only been doing better and better. And much as Vince being gone's the biggest reason for their improvement, they were honestly on a noticeable upswing even when he was still around. His expulsion just took it from what had become a relatively even fight to a thorough WWE drubbing of AEW.
The saddest thing is that many of Tony's worst failings this year are exactly the sort of failings Vince himself was noted for: refusal to delegate, an attention-deficit attitude to booking mixed with a stubborn insistence on sticking with certain pet plans even long after it was obvious he needed to change course, abandonment of what should be valuable cable programs to the wolves out of fear not enough people'll watch the show's (and thus ensuring fewer and fewer people'll watch with each passing week), cavings to stupid and unreasonable demands from pet talent even as it alienates the fans or pisses off the boys in the back to the point of violence.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if it came out he was sleeping with the talent. And there's something particularly sad about how Vince managed to book Daniel Bryan better than Tony's been booking Bryan Danielson.
