Hell, the very first time Page got attention put on him, was when Ring of Honor crafted an entire feud between him and a retiring Adam Pearce; where Page was an obnoxiously self-absorbed rookie who kept shitting on Pearce and telling Pearce he was a "dinosaur" and that he didn't "have anything to teach Page, who was perfect just the way he was" and who kept trying to beat the shit out of Pearce to get rid of him because he wanted Pearce's spot as one of the top guys at ROH.
Rather than having Page retire Pearce, they had Pearce beat the shit out of Page in his last couple of matches before basically humiliating Page (in a desperate bid to force him to learn humility) complete with him being made to bend the knee and "admit Pearce was right about him" at the end of Pearce's final match.
Which only made Page seethe even moreso and determine to cheat and network his way to the top, hence him hitching his wagon to the Bucks and Omega and Cody, becoming their luggage lad flunky so he could get to the top way faster and punish anyone like Punk or Pearce or Regal, who called him out on his shitty work ethic and arrogance.
