WWE has been in business for 70 years and is synonymous with wrestling in the U.S. Why is it only doing marginally better than a 3 year start up promotion?

WWE purely as a business is doing great thanks to Saudi and tv deal etc. But the truth is that wrestling itself is dying and becoming more and more niche. There aren't stars anymore that reach into areas of the media and bring normies in. WWE has the right idea by getting youtubers, singers and Jackass in to wrestle instead

The only problem with this is that celebrity appearances don't work like they did in the pre-social media days. They'll just find the clip elsewhere. Even if they don't nobody is sticking around for modern WWE.

Agreed. I'm not saying the celebs are a good long term plan, they are just the best option going forward because they don't have anything else. Nobody has the charisma or character of guys like The Rock or Stone Cold so won't cross over. It's best that wrestling just becomes a worked version of Youtuber boxing at this point

WWE has indeed been drawing very well lately, certainly way better than any other wrestling company. It's just that the majority of their women's division is trash. It's no coincidence that this week's Raw was very heavy on the women, and that's why the ratings weren't so great. Pretty sure this isn't the first time it's happened either. WWE needs to either do less women's wrestling or get some women who aren't so fucking cringey and boring.
