I was watching old Royal Rumbles and came across a really good one with Ronnie Garvin and Greg Valantine
Was one of those matches going into i thought about skipping because it just had a who gives a fuck feel and even the audience didn't seem to give a shit about it at the start
by the end i was totally in it and the audience was on its feet cheering
finding those kind of matches are the best

Been showing a friend the Big 4 WWF PPVs starting from WM 1. So far we watched through Survivor Series '88. I haven't watched this stuff in over a decade and everything about is fresh again. Something key to how they worked back then (in WWF at least) is that action is more continuous. Fewer pauses in the action. Less of a "classical music movement" feel. It's nice.

I think nothing sums up modern wrestling better than that idiot from impact saying she was a better wrestler than Benoit cause she could memorize more spots.

It doesn't matter if you're Kenny Omega or some dumb bitch from impact. Wrestling is no longer an improvised art form where the emotions of the fans direct the match, it is about remembering all the "cool ideas" you have for spots.

When I started watching wrestling again a couple of years ago, I started by rewatching the entire recorded history of WCW, then I went all the way through the Attitude Era. And once I got into Invasion Angle, my interest died just like it did when I watched it all live in the late 90+.

But then I started watching more old wrestling. And that led me to old Japanese wrestling, watched old NJPW, AJPW, and then Noah, etc. And then I started watching modern NJPW and NOAH and enjoying myself.
I doubt your experience would be the same but it eventually led me back to enjoying current wrestling.
