It was crazy; when he left for the first time, he was at the top of his game. He'd won the belt several times, he got monster pops every arena he was in, he was liked by everyone and had literally almost no backstage issues. There was nowhere higher for him to go in his profession. He gets his first break into Hollywood, he stars in a bunch of movies and he was off to a great start. His cameo as The Scorpion King was quaint at best, but his own movie with the roll followed by The Rundown and Walking Tall saw him show off his chops of carrying a movie.
Then it just gets weird because he does a bunch of Disney films knowing that families is where the money is and his career stalwarts. Like, you seriously have to struggle to remember some of the films he was in for a very good portion of his career and its clear that its directionless. There's even memes about him wearing the exact same outfit in four completely different movies. And who can blame you for noticing that because he consistently plays the exact same role.
Anybody who actually saw or witnessed his wrestling career knows the guy has an immense amount of talent, skill and ability but one thing that we miss out on was the people behind him that got him there. There isn't a James Cameron or an exceptionally good and talented writer that knows what to do with Dwayne and get the most out of a performance with him, and he hasn't done a role in any capacity that resembles the character he portrayed that got him famous in the first place. If he did smaller roles or even dropped out of Hollywood for a year or two and did Broadway or something and actually put effort into honing his acting skills, he very well could put forward an Oscar worthy performance, but good luck doing that. And now he's gonna try running XFL? I hope he knows what he's doing in that regard at least, but it feels like at the tail end of a lucrative Hollywood career that when viewed with a bit more scrutiny isn't what its cracked up to be.
